Stars College High School is proud to be a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP). We are currently pursuing authorization as an IB World School, reflecting our deep commitment to delivering a challenging, high-quality, and internationally-minded education.

Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer its programmes:

  • The Primary Years Programme (PYP)

  • The Middle Years Programme (MYP)

  • The Diploma Programme (DP)

πŸ“˜ What is the Diploma Programme?

The Diploma Programme (DP) is a rigorous two-year curriculum designed for students aged 16 to 19. It prepares learners for university, career success, and global citizenship through a broad and balanced academic framework. Beyond content mastery, the DP fosters skills in critical thinking, collaboration, inquiry, and personal reflectionβ€”equipping students to thrive in a dynamic and interconnected world.


🧭 Course Structure

DP students complete:

  • 3 Higher Level (HL) courses – 240 teaching hours each

  • 3 Standard Level (SL) courses – 150 teaching hours each

In addition to their six academic subjects, students complete three core components central to the IB philosophy:

  1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) – Exploring the nature of knowledge

  2. Extended Essay (EE) – Independent research project (up to 4,000 words)

  3. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) – Experiential learning beyond the classroom


πŸ§ͺ Subject Groups

DP students choose one subject from each of the following six groups:

  1. Studies in Language and Literature

  2. Language Acquisition

  3. Individuals and Societies

  4. Sciences

  5. Mathematics

  6. The Arts (or a second subject from Groups 1–5)


πŸ… Requirements for the IB Diploma

To be awarded the IB Diploma, students must:

  • Complete and pass all components of the core (TOK, EE, CAS)

  • Achieve at least 24 points total, with each subject graded on a 1–7 scale

  • Earn a minimum of 12 points from HL subjects

  • Earn a minimum of 9 points from SL subjects

  • Satisfy all internal and external assessment requirements
